Does Medi-Cal Really Cover Postpartum Doula Services?!
YES! Medi-Cal now covers prenatal, birth and postpartum doula services.
If you have Medi-Cal through Partnership HealthPlan of Califonia, my services are covered at no cost to you.
Medi-Cal covered doula services are designed to provide consistent, ongoing care throughout pregnancy and after your baby arrives.
In total, up to 20 doula visits my be covered, which can be used across pregnancy and the postpartum period based on your needs.
My care typically consists of 1-3 appointments before the arrival of the baby, and the remaining appointments used in the months after with 1-2 appointments per week.
These home visits are typically 2-2.5 hours, depending on my travel time to come to your home.
There are 2 “Extended postpartum appointments” under the Medi-cal structure which are between 3-4 hours long.
If you had a birth doula and prenatal visits with them it is still possible to use your medi-cal coverage with me.

With Medi-Cal doula services, your plan includes a limited number of prenatal, birth, and postpartum visits. I keep track of these for you so you always have a clear sense of what has been used and what you still have available.
After each appointment, I document and share with you the type of visit provided, the duration and scope of support, and your remaining Medi-Cal doula benefits.
I do this to keep things transparent, and to take away any guesswork about your coverage. It also helps us plan ahead together so your support is used in a way that fits your needs.
