Specializing in postpartum doula care means I support families in their homes during the early weeks and months after birth. My approach is grounded in reducing overwhelm, supporting rest, and helping you feel more confident in your instincts as a parent.
I believe you know your baby best. In a time full of advice, expectations, and information overload, my role is to help quiet the noise and support you in finding your own rhythm.
Home Visits
Home Visits are covered by Medi-Cal or booked at private pay rate of $50 /hr.
Visits are booked with 2 hour minimum. Sliding-scale rates are available upon request.
Every family is unique, and so is every home visit. Here are some of the ways I may support your family.
Meals
In-home meal preparation, planning, or cooking to help new parents nourish themselves while caring for their baby. I draw inspiration from “The First 40 Days” by Heng Ou and focus on simple, nourishing meals that support recovery, energy, and ease in the postpartum period.
I am comfortable working with what is available in your kitchen or preparing familiar, favorite dishes in a way that feels grounding and supportive. Care through food is an important part of my approach. I aim to make mealtimes nourishing and feel more seamless.
I also offer meal drop-off services as a private pay offering, which is not covered by Medi-Cal.
House Work
Light household tasks like dishes or laundry, as well as deeper cleaning or organizing projects.
Sibling Support
Time with siblings to help with meals, getting dressed, or playing so parents can focus on their infant.
Emotional Support
A safe space to process pregnancy or birth experiences, explore worries, ask questions, and share joys.
Sleep Support
Evidence-based guidance around infant and toddler sleep, reducing anxiety, increasing rest, and supporting attachment while protecting neurological development.
Holding the baby
Sometimes it’s “just” this: time for a shower, a nap, or a moment to breathe while I care for your baby.
Matrecence (the transition into motherhood) Support
The emotional, physical, and identity shifts that happen in early motherhood are profound. This is a time of major change that is often not fully acknowledged in our culture.
I believe that being intentionally witnessed through this transition, along with practical support, can help nourish, strengthen, and uplift both the parent and the family as a whole.
Carseat install and fit help
Proper carseat use is critical. Unfortunately nearly half of all carseats are either installed or used incorrectly. I am not a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) but I can help with resources and tools to ensure the safety of your baby on the road.
Elimination Communication Support
One of the most meaningful ways I connected with my baby was through elimination communication. I approach it gently and without pressure, offering support to families who are curious about incorporating it into their parenting experience.
I often draw from the book Diaper Free: The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene by Ingrid Bauer. While the book is currently out of print, I do keep an extra copy available to lend to interested families.
“Ali’s creativity in the kitchen was amazing—she could take whatever ingredients we had and turn them into gourmet-quality, nourishing, and comforting meals. It truly felt like having a personal chef who understood postpartum care.
She made everyone in the home feel supported.”
